SKYE RAPIST SENTENCED FOR VILE SEXUAL ATTACKS
A man named Marc Ronald, aged 44 and from Skye, has been convicted of a series of horrific sexual crimes after a victim found footage he had recorded on his laptop.Ronald was identified as a rapist who filmed and added derisive commentary during the assaults on a woman.
The footage, which he kept stored on his computer, served as crucial evidence during his trial at the High Court in Edinburgh.
He was found guilty of two rapes and three additional sexual assaults, with the videos documenting four of the crimes.
The court heard that Ronald filmed himself during these acts, which included degrading and humiliating the woman, treating her as an object for sexual gratification.
The victim displayed great bravery in coming forward, managing to hack the password on Ronald’s laptop, which was named after his boat.
She revealed that there were videos of her unconscious and she did not consent to any of the recording.
Ronald had denied the allegations, claiming he did not rape or sexually assault the woman at two addresses in Orkney and near Dingwall, between March 4, 2011, and February 7, 2013, during times when she was intoxicated and unable to consent.
He has been placed on the sex offenders register.
The judge, Lord Pentland, described the crimes as vile and depraved, emphasizing the victim's bravery, and stated that Ronald would face many years in prison.
He was remanded in custody and his sentencing was deferred for a background report.
The case was so distressing that the jury, which took part in the trial, was discharged from further service for fifteen years.
