AYLESBURY MAN JAILED FOR KILLING MOTHER DURING PARANOID EPISODE
Malo Myers, aged 32, was found guilty of fatally stabbing his mother, Lorna Myers, aged 54, during a psychotic episode that may have been triggered by drug use.Following an incident at his mother’s residence, Myers was taken into custody after striking her twice in the chest during a dispute.
Throughout the court process, Myers pleaded guilty to manslaughter on the grounds of diminished responsibility, having initially denied committing murder.
He also faced charges related to wounding another individual with intent.
Court reports indicated that Myers had shown signs of paranoia in the weeks before the attack, believing that his home was being monitored and that he was under surveillance, which affected his mental state.
Psychiatric evaluations concluded that Myers had experienced a brief psychotic episode, possibly linked to illicit drug consumption—specifically cannabis he smoked on the day of the offence.
Judge Heather Norton described the incident as a profoundly tragic event and sentenced Myers to nine years and four months behind bars.
It was noted that Myers had previous convictions, including battery against a former partner, and showed paranoid behavior shortly before the assault.
The court recounted that Myers took two kitchen knives and escaped the scene after stabbing his mother.
The fatal stabbing caused her death, and floral tributes were later placed outside the family home to mourn her loss.
