MALCOLM FRAME PLYMOUTH AND LODDISWELL PAEDOPHILE SENTENCED TO 12 YEARS FOR ABUSE
In December 2005, Malcolm Frame, a 47-year-old former dental technician from Plympton, was sentenced to a lengthy prison term of 12 years after being convicted of multiple heinous crimes involving the sexual abuse of a young girl. The disturbing case was heard at Plymouth Crown Court, where details emerged of Frame’s calculated and predatory behavior spanning over a year and a half.Prosecutors revealed that Frame had engaged in a pattern of grooming and abusing a girl who was just 13 years old when the abuse began. Over the course of his criminal activities, which took place between November 2002 and July 2004, Frame would manipulate the girl into sneaking out of her home in Loddiswell at midnight. He would then pick her up in his car and take her to various secluded locations, including lay-bys, his parents’ house, and the dental laboratory where he was employed, to carry out his sexual offenses.
The court heard how Frame systematically groomed the young girl, gradually gaining her trust and control. He used manipulative tactics such as showing her pornographic playing cards and maintaining constant communication through up to 22 text messages daily. Additionally, he went to the extent of secretly posting letters through a pipe near his residence in Loddiswell to coordinate his illicit meetings. His actions were driven by a desire to satisfy his perverted urges, especially after his marriage had ended and he moved into a separate bedroom from his wife, which the court described as a turning point in his pursuit of children for sexual gratification.
Andrew Maitland, the prosecutor, emphasized the calculated nature of Frame’s actions, describing them as a deliberate and carefully planned seduction of the young girl, whom he repeatedly used for his own sexual pleasure. The court was also informed of another disturbing incident involving a different young girl, whom Frame took to a social club, supplied with alcohol, and then sexually assaulted.
Throughout the week-long trial, Frame maintained his innocence, claiming that his motives were 'pure' and that he loved the girl 'in a father-daughter way.' However, after nine hours of jury deliberation, the verdict was clear. The jury found Frame guilty of six counts of indecent assault, five counts of abducting a child, two counts of causing a child to watch a sex act, one count of indecency with a child, and three counts of inciting or causing a child to engage in sexual activity.
Judge Francis Gilbert QC sentenced Frame to 12 years in prison, condemning his actions as those of a thoroughly evil man. The judge highlighted the severity of the crimes, noting the impact on the victims who were forced to testify in court and endure the trauma of the abuse. He also criticized Frame’s conduct during the trial, including his questioning of the victims and their families, which he described as gratuitous and malicious.
Furthermore, Judge Gilbert ordered that Frame be placed on the Sexual Offenders Register for life and remain under supervision for the next 12 years, reflecting the gravity of his offenses and the ongoing risk he poses to the community.
