Stirling Sexual Abuser
A man identified as Maciej Rabiej-Wanczyk, aged 47, has been sentenced to prison after committing a sexual assault in broad daylight at a bus stop in Stirling. The incident, which took place near Stirling Railway Station, involved Rabiej-Wanczyk targeting a 17-year-old girl in a public setting, leading to a swift police response and subsequent legal proceedings.
According to court reports, the teenage victim was waiting at the bus stop, expecting her friend to arrive around 4 pm. During this period, she engaged in casual conversation with two other young females. It was during this time that Rabiej-Wanczyk approached the group, attempting to communicate with them in a language that the victim could not understand, which raised initial concerns among witnesses.
Shortly after, Rabiej-Wanczyk left the scene and returned carrying bottles of vodka and beer. Lindsey Brooks, the prosecutor, explained to the court that Rabiej-Wanczyk offered the victim vodka, which she accepted. Witnesses observed that she appeared intoxicated, with some describing her as being under the influence of alcohol. The defendant then attempted to kiss her forcibly on the mouth, despite her efforts to back away. Several passers-by intervened, witnessing the assault and attempting to stop Rabiej-Wanczyk.
One 18-year-old male bystander saw what was happening and promptly called the police. He remained nearby until the victim was safely led away by her friends. During the incident, Rabiej-Wanczyk also asked for her phone and reportedly tried to put his phone number under the name “Magic” in her device, further indicating inappropriate behavior.
Police officers responded quickly to the scene and arrested Rabiej-Wanczyk. During police interviews, conducted through a Polish interpreter, he admitted to kissing the girl but claimed, “I was only kissing her.” The court was informed that Rabiej-Wanczyk, who resides in Stirling, pleaded guilty to the charge of sexual assault committed on July 1 of the previous year.
At his sentencing hearing, the court heard that Rabiej-Wanczyk had been somewhat hostile towards social workers preparing a report on him. The judge was told that Rabiej-Wanczyk dismissed the incident as a “silly offence” and attempted to shift blame onto the victim. His solicitor, Stephen Babalola, argued that Rabiej-Wanczyk was remorseful and had admitted guilt early in the process.
Despite these pleas, Sheriff Keith O’Mahony sentenced Rabiej-Wanczyk to five months in prison. Additionally, he was placed on the sex offenders’ register for a period of seven years. The sheriff commented on Rabiej-Wanczyk’s lack of insight into the impact of his actions, stating, “The report indicates you have very little insight into the effect of your crime.” As Rabiej-Wanczyk was led away in handcuffs, he showed no visible emotion, remaining silent as he was taken to the cells.
