JEALOUS BOYFRIEND DESTROYS LOVER’S SEX TOYS AND IS JAILED FOR HARASSMENT AND DAMAGE
Luke Hicks, aged 24, was involved in a disturbing incident where he broke into the flat of his partner, Danielle Gillies, while she was out.The court was informed that Hicks, after consuming a significant amount of alcohol including 15 pints of lager, vodka, and champagne, discovered that Danielle had gone out for a girls’ night in Cardiff.
Upset by her absence, he took two sex toys valued at £50 and £16, which were stored in her bedroom chest of drawers, and set them ablaze.
Danielle returned home to find her sex toys destroyed and her furniture burned.
The prosecutor, Vaughan Pritchard-Jones, stated that Danielle immediately cut all contact with Hicks following the incident.
Hicks admitted to charges of criminal damage and harassment.
He was ordered by magistrates to pay £66 for the sex toys and £340 for the damage caused, and was additionally fined £330 for harassment.
A restraining order was issued, banning him from contacting Danielle for a period of two years.
The court also heard that Hicks, who works as an insurance salesman, spent nine days attempting to reconcile with Danielle, during which many of his texts became abusive.
His defense lawyer, Mike Kelleher, stated Hicks was 'extremely drunk' and did not expect Danielle to go out.
He explained that the messages were driven by frustration, some of which were rude, and that Hicks saw a faint hope of reconciliation because he had not been blocked from her contacts.
The incident, which involved criminal damage and harassment, was handled with a combination of fines, compensation, and a restraining order to prevent future contact.
Hicks’s actions were judged severely, leading to the restraining order and financial penalties.
