Shirebrook Rapist
In August 2023, authorities uncovered disturbing evidence involving a teenage individual from Shirebrook, identified as Luke Eaton, who engaged in the possession and distribution of extremely disturbing child abuse images. The case came to light after police investigations revealed that Eaton was using an online pseudonym, ‘I love children yummy,’ to access and download illicit material from the internet.

Law enforcement officials detailed that the images found on Eaton’s devices depicted some of the most heinous forms of child exploitation. Victims ranged from infants to children as old as five, with some photographs showing the children being choked during sexual assaults. The severity of the images was underscored by the fact that some victims appeared to be very young, including babies, and the abuse was captured in explicit detail.

The Derby Crown Court heard how police traced the distribution of these images back to Eaton after receiving a tip-off. Prosecutor Raglan Ashton explained that authorities identified a photograph of a child being shared via the username ‘I love children yummy,’ which prompted a police visit to Eaton’s residence on May 27, 2021. During the investigation, officers noted that the carpet in his home was highly distinctive and matched the one visible in the shared images, providing a crucial link to Eaton.

When questioned about the uploaded photograph, Eaton admitted to taking the image himself. A computer tower was seized from his home and subsequently analyzed, revealing a staggering collection of illicit images. The police recovered a total of 453 images classified as Category A, which are considered the most severe, often depicting very young children being raped and abused by adults. Additionally, there were 201 Category B images and 996 Category C images, which include more extreme content such as bestiality.

The evidence also showed that Eaton was actively sharing these images with others who shared his disturbing interests. Among the most disturbing aspects of the case was the presence of images involving very young children, including a baby being raped, with one photograph showing the infant choking. The ages of the victims ranged from infants to children aged five.

Further investigation revealed that Eaton used the TOR browser on his computer, a tool known for its high level of security and anonymity, which is often associated with this type of offending. This indicated a deliberate effort to conceal his activities online.

In court, Eaton, residing on Central Drive in Shirebrook, pleaded guilty to multiple charges, including three counts of possessing indecent images of children, two counts of distributing such images, and one count of possessing an extreme pornographic image. Judge Jonathan Bennett sentenced him to a three-year community order, which includes 55 sessions of rehabilitation and attendance at a 45-day sex offenders’ program aimed at addressing his offending behavior. Additionally, Eaton was ordered to complete 150 hours of unpaid work, was placed on the sex offender register for five years, and was issued a five-year sexual harm prevention order to restrict his access to children and related material.
