WITNEY MAN GETS SUSPENDED SENTENCE FOR THREATENING AND STRANGLING PARTNER
A court has heard that Lucas Leach, a 21-year-old from Abraham Way, Minster Lovell, was sentenced at Oxford Crown Court for multiple violent offences against his former partner.
Leach was recorded on film hitting his ex-partner in February 2023, during which he assaulted her physically.
A month later, he expressed an intent to kill her and placed his hands around her throat.
In court, it was described that Leach and his partner's relationship was toxic, with Leach being caught on video punching her and causing her to cry.
On March 24, Leach returned home from work in a bad mood, and during a heated argument, he threatened her, saying 'I want to kill you,' before putting his hands around her neck and squeezing.
The victim reported that her time with Lucas was traumatic, significantly impacting her wellbeing, and praised her strength for leaving him.
Leach showed remorse and is starting to question his actions, although it was noted that he has exhibited undiagnosed behavioral difficulties.
The judge emphasized the seriousness of the offences and sentenced Leach to 12 months in prison, suspended for two years.
Additionally, he was ordered to undergo six months of mental health treatment and 30 programme sessions, complete 80 hours of unpaid work within a year, and was granted a restraining order preventing contact with the victim for five years.
