NEW FOREST MAN ADMITS HE HAD MORE THAN 70,000 CHILD ABUSE IMAGES
A man who admitted to 'enjoying' child abuse images has appeared in court after being found with so many that police gave up counting them all.
Louis Rumis, 82, pleaded guilty to three charges of possession of indecent images, totalling over 70,000 images of children.
One of the most serious videos found in his cache of hard drives and SD cards included a six-month old child.
Police conducted a search of his home on Farmers Walk, Everton, Lymington, in April 2024, finding dozens of SD cards, hard drives, and storage devices containing child sex abuse images, which were then examined.
Rumis admitted during police interviews that he continued to watch and enjoyed the material, even after police searched his home again in 2025, finding even more images.
The police found over 70,000 images across categories A, B, and C, including videos of a six-month-old child.
The case has been sent to Southampton Crown Court for sentencing on March 31, and Rumis has been remanded on unconditional bail with reporting requirements.
