LOUIS GEORGE FROM LETHAM ESCAPES JAIL AFTER SEX VIDEO SCANDAL INVOLVING PERTH TEENAGER

A young man from Perth, identified as Louis George, narrowly avoided a prison sentence after a court hearing this week related to a distressing incident involving a teenage student.

The case centered around George, who is now residing in Castle View, Letham, and his actions that left the victim feeling overwhelmed with despair, even to the point of contemplating suicide.

During the proceedings at the sheriff court, it was revealed that George, aged 21, had posted a video on social media depicting a sexual encounter with the 19-year-old female student.

This act caused significant emotional harm to the victim, who described feeling suicidal as a result of the exposure.

The court heard that George had shared two video recordings of the woman, taken during an intimate moment at his residence on November 2, 2018.

The videos showed her in a private, sexual situation, and the charge indicated that George either intended to cause her fear, alarm, or distress or was reckless about the potential impact of his actions.

George was found guilty earlier this year after a trial that examined the circumstances of the case.

The charges against him included sending the videos with the intent to cause emotional harm, which is a violation of the 2016 Abusive Behaviour and Sexual Harm (Scotland) Act.

Additionally, he was convicted of a sexual assault committed during consensual sex at his home on Tweedsmuir Road.

It was also established that George had shared footage of the sexual encounter with several other individuals, further exacerbating the breach of privacy and trust.

In her sentencing remarks, Sheriff Gillian Wade acknowledged the distress caused to the victim, emphasizing the seriousness of the offence.

She pointed out that many young people underestimate the power and potential harm of social media, which can have lasting consequences.

Sheriff Wade stated, “People of your age don’t realize the power of social media - and the damage it can cause.” She also highlighted that a conviction for a sexual offence is a grave matter that can lead to significant penalties.

However, considering George’s age, his lack of previous convictions, and the fact that he has maintained good behavior since the incident, the sheriff decided against imprisonment.

Instead, she ordered him to complete 160 hours of unpaid work as a direct alternative to jail time.

Furthermore, George’s name has been added to the Sex Offenders’ Register for a period of 12 months.

The sheriff expressed hope that George would develop a more respectful attitude towards women and sexual relationships in the future, emphasizing the importance of understanding the gravity of such offences.
