Leighton Buzzard Rapist
In a disturbing case that has sent shockwaves through the community of Leighton Buzzard, Bedfordshire, Loui Cadman, aged 25, has been sentenced to a lengthy prison term after being convicted of serious sexual offenses, including rape and voyeurism. The incident, which took place on the night of November 20, 2022, has highlighted the dangers posed by individuals with predatory tendencies in the area.

According to court proceedings, Cadman followed a woman down an alleyway after she left a local bar in Leighton Buzzard. CCTV footage captured the moment he trailed her from Lake Street towards Duncombe Drive at approximately 01:30 BST. The court was informed that the woman had become separated from her friends that evening and had also lost her mobile phone during the course of the night, leaving her particularly vulnerable.

Tragically, Cadman took advantage of her compromised state. He filmed the woman on his mobile device before assaulting her in the alleyway. The attack was severe enough that the woman reported the incident to staff at a nearby pub, who then contacted Bedfordshire Police. Law enforcement officers responded swiftly and located Cadman near the scene of the crime. Upon arrest, they examined his phone and discovered the intimate footage he had secretly recorded of the woman, along with other video clips of young women, which raised further concerns about his predatory behavior.

Following the attack, the woman experienced significant psychological trauma. She was unable to socialize or sleep properly and began suffering from panic attacks, illustrating the profound impact of the assault on her mental health. Her ordeal underscored the seriousness of Cadman’s actions and the threat he posed to women in the community.

During the court hearing, Judge Rebecca Herbert described Cadman’s conduct as “predatory,” emphasizing the calculated nature of his actions. She stated, “Your behaviour was predatory,” and expressed her belief that Cadman had been actively seeking vulnerable women, particularly those who appeared intoxicated. The judge also noted that Cadman’s criminal record included guilty pleas to three counts of voyeurism, possession of indecent images, and possession of cannabis.

Cadman, who resides on Meadow Way in Leighton Buzzard, was found guilty of rape earlier in the year. The court sentenced him to an extended term of 12 years and three months in prison. The sentence comprises nine years and three months of actual custody, followed by a three-year period on licence. Judge Herbert made it clear that the sentence reflected the gravity of his crimes and the need to protect the community from further harm.

In her remarks, the judge highlighted the severity of Cadman’s actions, stating, “I have no doubt you were walking the streets hoping to come across a vulnerable female who was very much the worse for drink.” The case serves as a stark reminder of the dangers faced by women in public spaces and the importance of vigilance and law enforcement in safeguarding the community.
