WOMAN FROM CORK FALSELY CLAIMS RAPE; FACES COURT CHARGES
A woman named Lorraine Forde, aged 24 and from Skibbereen, West Cork, was involved in a false accusation case.
She claimed she was raped in church grounds while walking to a friend’s house, which led to a Garda investigation.
However, during her court appearance before Cork District Court, she was charged with wasting Garda time and making false statements.
Garda Karen Seymour testified that Forde made no reply when arrested last Friday.
The investigation into her claims included house-to-house inquiries and a roadblock on the Bandon Road near Lough Church.
Authorities revealed that her complaint had spurred an investigation involving questioning of motorists and pedestrians.
Forde was remanded on bail and scheduled to appear before the court again in March, with her solicitor requesting a probation and welfare report.
