MAN JAILED FOR DOMESTIC ABUSE
After an investigation conducted by Thames Valley Police, a man was sentenced to prison for abusing his ex-partner in Stony Stratford.Lloyd Cole, aged 29 and listed as having no fixed address, received a custodial sentence of two years and seven months at Aylesbury Crown Court on 14 November.
In addition, he was issued an indefinite restraining order.
During a hearing on 22 August this year, Cole pleaded guilty to multiple charges, including two counts of assault by beating, three counts of criminal damage, one count of assault causing actual bodily harm, one count of intentional strangulation, and one of intentional suffocation.
The woman in her forties, the victim, was in a relationship with Cole for roughly five to six months.
His behaviour became controlling quickly, restricting her social interactions and cutting her off from her family and friends.
Cole moved into her residence without permission and refused to leave despite being asked multiple times.
On 13 February, Cole damaged the victim’s phone by throwing it against the wall, rendering it unusable.
He then hurled the damaged phone at her, causing injury to her wrist.
On 7 March, Cole destroyed her laptop and broke her new phone in half.
When she attempted to escape through a window in her own home, Cole dragged her back inside.
She eventually managed to escape and sought assistance at a local pub.
The following day, Cole forcibly entered her home by smashing a window, then physically dragged her from her bed by her hair.
He subjected her to hours of violence, resulting in facial swelling and a black eye.
A neighbour hearing the commotion contacted the police, who arrived to find Cole standing over the victim after gaining entry.
The victim sustained various injuries, including a black eye from a bite, swelling, and injuries to her arms, legs, and knees.
Cole was apprehended at the scene and charged the next day, 9 March, with the relevant offences.
