SERIAL BUTETOWN PAEDOPHILE LITON AHMED JAILED FOR 18 YEARS
A man from Butetown has received an 18-year prison sentence after being convicted on charges of sexual offences involving children.
Liton Ahmed, 47 years old, contested six allegations of touching a girl for sexual purposes, along with one charge of attempting to do so.
However, he was found guilty at a trial held in Cardiff Crown Court during April 2025.
The court sentenced Ahmed at Merthyr Tydfil Crown Court on August 26, 2025, to serve 18 years behind bars.
Detective constable Steven Taylor commented on the case, saying, “I want to commend the victims for their bravery in coming forward.
Thanks to their reports and ongoing support, justice has been achieved.” He continued, “This period has been difficult for everyone involved, and I hope the court’s ruling offers some comfort and closure to the victims and their families.” Ahmed is now required to remain on the Sex Offenders Register for an indefinite period, is subject to a Sexual Harm Prevention Order, and has a Restraining Order in place concerning the victims until further notice.
Authorities acknowledge how challenging it can be for sexual abuse victims to speak out.
They emphasize that cases like this demonstrate that survivors will be listened to, treated with dignity, and supported through the judicial process.
They also encourage anyone who has experienced sexual abuse but isn’t ready to report to seek help, with available support services and resources provided.
