DOG BREEDER BANNED AFTER OPERATING WITHOUT LICENSE, COURT RULES
A former dog breeder has been penalized with a two-year ban from keeping cats and dogs after operating her business without a valid license.Linda Moran, aged 64, previously managed A1 Boarding Kennels and Cattery from her residence in Brompton on Swale, near Richmond.
Between April 4 and April 10, 2023, she was found to have engaged in dog breeding and advertised her services without possessing the necessary licensing.
York Magistrates' Court heard that North Yorkshire Council licensing officers inspected her premises in April 2023 and discovered a total of 61 dogs on site.
Prosecutor Ms Estelle Chambers explained: "They had visited the kennels after officer Katie Beyer found adverts for puppies for sale placed by the defendant which described Moran as a licensed breeder.
The advert also included an invalid breeding licence number." Moran was also found to have sold a Lhasa Apso puppy without a license.
Her defense, represented by Mr Coniah, stated that she now works as a dog groomer and no longer runs a breeding and boarding kennel.
He also highlighted her long-standing dedication to dogs, supported by numerous character references, and noted that there have been no further offenses since April 2023.
At the court hearing, Moran was sentenced to 120 hours of unpaid work, ordered to pay costs of £800 and a victim surcharge of £114.
