SHOCKING CHILD PORNOGRAPHY CASE: LIAM MORRIS OF OXENHOLME FACES JUSTICE IN CUMBRIA
In a disturbing case that has sent shockwaves through the community of Oxenholme, Liam Morris, a 28-year-old resident of Bleaswood Road, has been found guilty of possessing and creating indecent images of children as young as two years old. The case, which has garnered significant attention, highlights the ongoing efforts of law enforcement to combat child exploitation and protect vulnerable victims.According to court records, Morris admitted to making a series of indecent photographs and videos involving minors, with the offenses spanning from November 29, 2007, to September 25 of this year. The charges include a total of 12 counts related to the creation and possession of these illicit images. The severity of the case was underscored by the classification of some of the images as Level A, indicating the most serious category of child abuse material, with others falling into Level B and Level C categories.
During the proceedings at South Lakeland Magistrates’ Court, Morris pleaded guilty to all charges. The court subsequently committed his case to Carlisle Crown Court for sentencing, where a judge imposed a comprehensive set of penalties. Morris was ordered to sign the sex offenders’ register for the next five years, a measure designed to monitor his activities and prevent further offenses. Additionally, he was subjected to a three-year supervision order, which will require regular check-ins and monitoring by authorities.
In terms of financial penalties, Morris was ordered to pay £400 in court costs and a £60 victim surcharge, which is intended to support services for victims of sexual crimes. The court also mandated the destruction of his computer to prevent any further dissemination of illicit material. To restrict his movements and reduce the risk of reoffending, Morris was placed under a curfew order, requiring him to remain at his residence from 8 pm to 7 am on Saturdays and Sundays for a period of four months.
Earlier in September 2014, Morris appeared in court in Kendal, where he faced charges related to the possession of child abuse images. The police investigation revealed that Morris’s home computer contained both indecent photographs and moving images of children aged between two and 16 years old. The authorities classified the offenses into different levels of severity, with four images categorized as Level A, four as Level B, and the remaining four as Level C. Morris was ordered to appear at Carlisle Crown Court on October 13 for sentencing and was released on bail under the condition that he does not come into contact with children under the age of 16.
The case underscores the ongoing vigilance required to combat child exploitation and the importance of legal measures to hold offenders accountable. The community of Oxenholme and the wider Cumbria region continues to be vigilant in the face of such disturbing crimes, with authorities committed to safeguarding vulnerable children and ensuring justice is served.
