LIAM HUGHES SENTENCED IN FALKIRK AND GLASGOW FOR SEXUAL ASSAULTS ON TEENAGE GIRLS

A young man from Falkirk, Liam Hughes, has been handed a lengthy prison sentence after being convicted of multiple serious sexual offenses involving teenage girls in Falkirk and Grangemouth. The High Court in Glasgow heard that Hughes, aged 18 at the time of sentencing, had targeted three schoolgirls in these towns over a period spanning from 2020 to 2022.

It was revealed during the trial that Hughes had previously been convicted following a trial at Stirling for raping three girls and sexually assaulting a fourth victim. Notably, it was disclosed that he was on bail when he committed at least one of these offenses, raising concerns about his ongoing risk to the community.

The presiding judge, Lord Young, emphasized the importance of supervision following Hughes's release, ordering an additional three and a half years of supervision in the community after his detention period. The court was informed that two of the victims were aged 15, while the third was only 14 at the time of the assaults. Hughes reportedly attacked the youngest girl in Grangemouth, with the assault taking place in a wooded area. Subsequently, he was accused of attacking one of the older girls again in the woods of the same town.

Further allegations included an incident where Hughes was accused of sexually assaulting one of the girls while she was sleeping after a party in Falkirk. Hughes denied all charges, claiming that the victims had
