HULL TEENAGER JAILED FOR LIFE IN HORRIFIC MURDER OF GRANDMOTHER
A teenage offender, Lewis Dale, aged 17, was convicted of murder and attempted murder after stabbing his grandparents, Irene and Allan Dale, in their home on Summergangs Road in Hull last April.
Irene Dale, age 78, was found in bed after being stabbed to death, while her husband, aged 80, was also targeted during the attack.
The court was informed that Dale behaved in a disturbingly similar manner to the character Norman Bates from the film Psycho.
He was sentenced to serve a minimum term of 17 years.
The court learned that Dale had been high on mephedrone and could not recall attacking his grandparents.
His father, David Dale, who stood by his son, blamed drugs for influencing his son's actions and requested leniency during sentencing.
He expressed his distress, stating: 'I feel physically sick and I cannot believe it.
I am just so sad.' Humberside Police Det Insp Martin Daley emphasized that the judge sentenced Dale to a substantial minimum term, hoping the family can begin to heal and move forward.
