Clacton Sexual Abuser
In June 2001, Leslie Wise, 43, was sentenced to seven years in prison for abusing two young children. A judge described Wise's actions as preying on the boy and girl for his own 'perverted sexual desires.' Chelmsford Crown Court was told that Wise began indecently assaulting a young boy from around age 7 until he was approximately 13. These crimes only came to light after Wise, of Thorpe Road, Clacton, was arrested for indecently assaulting a six-year-old girl, Jude Durr, prosecuting, explained. Wise admitted to 11 indecent assaults, one act of gross indecency involving the girl, and six indecent assaults along with four counts of gross indecency against the boy when he appeared for sentencing. In addition to the prison term, Wise was ordered to remain on the sex offenders’ register for life. Judge Ben Pearson stated, 'You deliberately groomed these children to behave in a way which gratified your perverted sexual desires.' Sarah Freeman, representing Wise, noted that he had low intelligence but was attempting to understand his behavior and undergo treatment to prevent reoffending. She also highlighted that Wise’s guilty pleas spared his victims the trauma of giving evidence in court.
