LESLEY KINVIG FROM DALCROSS SENTENCED FOR DECADES OF SEXUAL ABUSE IN GLASGOW
In a case that spanned nearly two decades, Leslie Kinvig, a 63-year-old man from Dalcross, has been sentenced to six years in prison after being found guilty of multiple serious sexual offenses involving two young girls. The court proceedings, held at the High Court in Glasgow, revealed a disturbing pattern of abuse that took place at various addresses in Argylshire.According to court records, Kinvig was convicted of sexually abusing one girl over a period from June 1981 to November 1986, during which she was aged between eight and thirteen years old. The victim recounted how Kinvig would engage in inappropriate acts such as kissing and licking her neck, as well as touching her breasts and private parts, actions that caused her significant distress and trauma.
Despite the severity of these allegations, Kinvig was acquitted of a charge of raping the first girl when she was thirteen. However, the court found sufficient evidence to convict him of other sexual offenses committed against her during the same period.
Further, Kinvig was also convicted of abusing a second girl, starting from when she was twelve years old and continuing until she was about twenty. The court heard that he made indecent remarks towards her, touched her private parts, and kissed her on the lips and neck, actions that further compounded the gravity of his misconduct.
Judge John Morris QC, presiding over the case, emphasized the seriousness of Kinvig’s actions. In his sentencing remarks, he stated, “The jury convicted you of serious sexual offences against two females. They didn’t accept the more serious charges against you. They convicted you of a catalogue of sex offences over a considerable period of time.”
As part of his sentence, Kinvig was also ordered to register as a sex offender, in accordance with the law. The case highlights the long-lasting impact of sexual abuse and the importance of justice for victims who endured abuse over many years in the Dalcross and Argylshire areas.
