LESLEY FIELD FROM TINGRITH SENTENCED FOR SEXUAL ABUSE OF CHILDREN IN LUTON
In a case that has shocked the community of Tingrith and the surrounding areas, Leslie Field, a 50-year-old operations manager, was sentenced to four years in prison after being found guilty of nine serious charges related to the sexual abuse of minors. The conviction was handed down at Luton Crown Court following a detailed trial that revealed disturbing allegations spanning over a decade.Leslie Field, who resides at Home Farm in Tingrith, faced a jury that deliberated extensively before reaching a unanimous verdict. The court found him guilty of abusing two girls and a boy, with the abuse occurring between 1991 and June of the previous year. Throughout the proceedings, Field maintained his innocence, vehemently denying any inappropriate conduct involving the children, all of whom were under the age of 13 at the time of the alleged incidents.
Judge Michael Baker QC, presiding over the case, ordered that Field be remanded into custody immediately following the verdict, pending reports that would inform his sentencing. During the trial, the prosecution, led by Rosa Dean, presented compelling evidence and testimony that painted a disturbing picture of the defendant’s actions.
According to the prosecution, the victims included a girl now aged 11 and her nine-year-old brother, who were described as regular visitors to Field’s home between 2004 and 2006. The girl confided in her mother in June last year, revealing that Field had been touching her inappropriately. She expressed her awareness that such behavior was wrong and hoped it would cease without her having to disclose it. The investigation uncovered that Field had also been fondling her brother on multiple occasions and had even encouraged the boy to engage in sexual acts with him.
Following this disclosure, law enforcement authorities intervened, leading to Field’s arrest and subsequent questioning. During police interviews, Field expressed distress over the allegations, claiming he was upset by the suggestion of any sexual misconduct. He stated that the boy had once attempted to touch him and that he had to reprimand him. Throughout the trial, Field’s defense argued that he had never behaved inappropriately with any of the children involved.
The evidence presented was compelling enough for the jury to convict him on seven counts of indecent assault and two counts of inciting gross indecency. The court’s decision underscores the severity of the crimes and the importance of protecting vulnerable minors from such abuse. Leslie Field’s sentencing marks a significant moment in the ongoing effort to bring justice to victims of child sexual abuse, and it serves as a stark reminder of the importance of vigilance and accountability within communities like Tingrith and beyond.
