ABERDEEN PHOTOGRAPHER FINED FOR DOMESTIC VIOLENCE AND ASSAULT
A domestic abuse incident involved Aberdeen-based photographer Leigh Reke, aged 35, who became angry and began shouting incessantly at her partner at an address in Aberdeen during the early hours of April 20 this year. She picked up a glass photo frame and threw it at her partner, hitting her victim's leg and causing a cut.
Reke continued her aggressive behavior by throwing items around and, notably, throwing electrical items out of the window until police arrived and arrested her.
During court proceedings, her defense highlighted her mental health issues, including borderline personality disorder, and issues related to alcohol misuse, which were described as being 'far, far over the score.' Reke expressed embarrassment and suffering from anxiety about her court appearance and proposed a financial penalty of £40 per month.
The court, however, considered her actions serious enough to impose a fine of £420 and a non-harassment order banning her contact with her victim for five years, emphasizing that there is 'no excuse' for her behavior, which was deemed frightening and troubling for her partner.
