LEE LEWITT SUMMERCOURT PAEDOPHILE PARAMEDIC AVOIDS JAIL DESPITE HORRIFIC CHILD ABUSE IMAGES

In May 2022, a disturbing case involving Lee Lewitt, a paramedic from Summercourt, drew significant attention due to the severity of his crimes and the shocking nature of the evidence against him.

Lewitt, aged 37, was found to possess an extensive collection of over 7,000 indecent images and videos depicting the sexual abuse of children. Among these heinous materials were recordings of a 12-month-old baby being sexually assaulted, as well as footage of children being raped. The sheer depravity of the content uncovered on his electronic devices shocked both law enforcement officials and the public alike.

Authorities seized multiple devices from Lewitt’s residence, including his mobile phone, memory stick, iPad, laptop, and an encrypted file-sharing account. The investigation revealed that he had accessed and stored these illegal images and videos over a period stretching from November 17, 2018, to May 29, 2020. The police found a disturbing assortment of images categorized as follows: 2,721 in Category A, which includes the most severe and explicit material; 1,456 in Category B; 3,529 in Category C; and an additional ten extreme pornographic images depicting acts of bestiality.

Lewitt, who was employed as a paramedic with the South Western Ambulance Service NHS Foundation Trust, admitted to police that he was addicted to adult pornography. He claimed that he had encountered the illegal images while browsing adult websites, suggesting a lack of awareness or disregard for the criminality of his actions. During the investigation, Lewitt also revealed that he had changed his name by deed poll to Jago Lee.

His arrest took place on June 1, 2020, when Devon and Cornwall Constabulary officers executed a search warrant at his home. The subsequent examination of his electronic devices uncovered the extensive collection of illegal images and videos. The case was brought before Truro Crown Court, where Lewitt appeared on March 5, 2021, to face charges.

At the court hearing, Lewitt pleaded guilty to three counts of making indecent photographs of children and one count of possessing extreme pornographic images. The court heard that the extreme images were described as 'grossly offensive, disgusting, or otherwise of an obscene character,' explicitly depicting acts of intercourse or oral sex with animals in a realistic and explicit manner.

Judge Simon Carr sentenced Lewitt to an 18-month prison term, which was suspended for two years. Additionally, Lewitt was ordered to complete 100 hours of unpaid community service, placed under a Sexual Harm Prevention Order, and registered as a sex offender for ten years. The judge emphasized the gravity of Lewitt’s crimes, highlighting the widespread and heinous nature of child abuse and animal cruelty depicted in the images.

Furthermore, Lewitt’s professional standing was affected; he was formally struck off from the medical register, effectively ending his career as a paramedic. The court’s decision underscored the serious consequences of his actions, despite the fact that he avoided immediate imprisonment. The case served as a stark reminder of the ongoing battle against child exploitation and the importance of vigilant law enforcement in uncovering and prosecuting such offenses.
