LEE KNELLER FROM WATERLOOVILLE SENTENCED FOR ROBBERY AND SEXUAL ASSAULT IN PORTSMOUTH

In a serious criminal case that unfolded in Portsmouth, Lee Alan Kneller, aged 39 and a resident of Chaffinch Green in Waterlooville, faced justice for a disturbing incident involving robbery and sexual assault. The events leading to his conviction took place on Saturday, 8 June 2024, and culminated in his appearance before Portsmouth Crown Court on Friday, 7 February 2025.

According to reports, the victim, a woman in her 40s, was performing her duties as a carer at an address on Vian Road when the incident occurred. Kneller approached the residence and knocked on the door. Instead of leaving after being asked to do so, he forcibly pushed past the woman and entered the property under false pretenses, claiming he needed to use the bathroom. This initial breach of her personal space quickly escalated into a more serious assault.

Once inside, Kneller proceeded to sexually assault the woman, an act that caused her significant distress and trauma. During the assault, he also demanded money from her, further aggravating the situation. After the assault and theft, Kneller stole her handbag and fled the scene, leaving the victim shaken and vulnerable.

The incident prompted an immediate response from the Havant and East Hants Criminal Investigations Department. Law enforcement officers launched a thorough investigation, which included the analysis of CCTV footage and appeals to the public for information. The community’s response was instrumental in identifying Kneller as the suspect. Thanks to the combined efforts of investigators and the public’s cooperation, Kneller was swiftly located and arrested later on the same day.

During legal proceedings, Kneller admitted to both charges of robbery and sexual assault. His guilty plea led to a sentencing that reflected the severity of his crimes. On 7 February, he was sentenced to eight and a half years in prison.
