DEGENERATE CHILD RAPIST ABUSED A GIRL FOR YEARS FROM WHEN SHE WAS 10 YEARS OLD
Lee Bishop was convicted of sexually abusing a girl from the age of 10 over several years, ultimately leading to his arrest and imprisonment, thanks to the courage shown by the victim.
He confessed to the sexual abuse and assault on the girl during her childhood.
Bishop, 41, residing on Bisley Crescent, received a sentence of 13 and a half years in prison.
His arrest came in July 2016 following allegations of historical sexual misconduct.
Over a period of years, Bishop engaged in multiple acts of rape and sexual assault against the young girl.
The court found Bishop guilty of five counts of sexual assault of a girl under 13, one count of rape of a girl under 13, and one count of assaulting a girl under 13 by penetration.
During proceedings at Cambridge Crown Court, he was sentenced to three years for one sexual assault, five years each on four other counts, an extended sentence of 13 years and six months for rape with a five-year licence period, and 11 years for assault by penetration.
All sentences will run concurrently.
As part of ongoing legal restrictions, Bishop is now on the Sex Offenders Register indefinitely and subject to a Sexual Harm Prevention Order (SHPO) for the same period.
