FISHERMAN FROM JOHN O'GROATS AVOIDS JAIL AFTER DOMESTIC ABUSE ADMITTED
A fisherman named Lebre Macpherson, residing at Heatherbell Cottages, John O'Groats, was involved in a series of domestic abuse incidents against his partner. The court heard that between January 23, 2021, and February 4, 2021, Macpherson verbally abused his partner, threw a mobile phone at her hitting her in the face and causing bruising below her eye.
During an incident on February 4, he took her to Inverness city center to find alternative accommodation, during which he shouted, swore at her, and threatened to smash their house.
The woman was crying during a video call when she sought help, as Macpherson shouted and swore at her and threatened to cause destruction.
Macpherson admitted to these actions in court, and it was noted that he was currently on a community payback order for another case, with satisfactory compliance.
As part of his sentencing, Macpherson was ordered to perform 160 hours of unpaid work and placed under social work supervision for the next 18 months.
The sheriff declined to impose a non-harassment order.
Despite the violent incidents, he was spared a jail sentence.
