LAURENCE BETTS JAILED FOR BEACH ATTACK ON WOMAN
A man jailed for two brutal attacks has been convicted of assaulting a woman during a family outing to the beach.Laurence Betts, 32, was last month sentenced for four years and four months for repeatedly stabbing one victim and punching and stamping on another up to 30 times.
Appearing at Norwich Magistrates’ Court via video link from prison three weeks into his sentence, he admitted a separate offence of attacking his own partner on the beach in Southwold on September 1.
Witnesses had called police after seeing a woman being hit four or five times in front of children and holidaymakers.
Betts, of Hotson Road, Southwold, pleaded guilty to assault by beating.
District Judge Matthew Bone sentenced him to eight weeks to be served concurrent to his existing jail term.
His two previous attacks also occurred in Southwold—one involved stabbing a man multiple times with nail scissors, and the second involved attacking a man outside the town’s Co-Op store in front of his wife and children.
