LANCE MCKEOWN FROM LLANRWST JAILED FOR SEXUAL OFFENSES AGAINST YOUNG GIRL IN CAERNARFON
In a case that has sent shockwaves through the local community, Lance McKeown, a 26-year-old man with a history of criminal behavior, was convicted at Caernarfon Crown Court of serious sexual offenses involving a young girl. McKeown, who has lived in various locations including Llanrwst and Holyhead, was found guilty of multiple charges related to the abuse of a female child under the age of 13 and another under 16.According to court records, McKeown worked at the Cineworld cinema in Llandudno Junction at the time of the offenses. The court heard that he committed acts of sexual assault with penetration on a girl under 13 and also assaulted another girl under 16. The severity of his crimes prompted a high-risk assessment by probation services, which concluded that McKeown posed a significant danger to children within the community. The report further highlighted his apparent lack of remorse, noting that he refused to participate in any rehabilitative courses aimed at addressing his sexual offending behavior.
Judge presiding over the case sentenced McKeown to a total of three years in prison, with the stipulation that he must serve at least half of that sentence before being eligible for release. Additionally, the court ordered him to register as a sex offender for a period of ten years. McKeown was also instructed that he must not reside in the same household as any female under the age of 18 without prior approval from his supervising officer.
McKeown’s criminal history extends beyond this recent conviction. In 2010, while living in Rochdale, he appeared in court after stealing money from his father to fund his drug and alcohol addiction. He admitted to theft and was subsequently placed under 18 months of supervision to help manage his substance abuse issues, with a fine of £85 imposed.
His criminal record and recent convictions underscore ongoing concerns about his behavior and the potential risk he poses to the community, especially to vulnerable children. The case has once again brought attention to the importance of monitoring offenders and ensuring appropriate safeguards are in place to protect the public from individuals with a history of sexual offenses.
