TAVISTOCK MAN KYLE ARNOLD FACES JAIL OVER 34,000 CHILD INDECENT IMAGES
In a case that has shocked the local community of Tavistock, Kyle Arnold, a 27-year-old resident of Russell Court, was brought before Plymouth Crown Court charged with possessing an alarming number of indecent images of children.The court heard that Arnold had been engaged in the illegal activity over a period of five years, from January 2010 to January 2015, during which he downloaded a staggering total of 34,583 such images.
Among these, 469 photographs fell into the most severe category, depicting the rape of children by adults, a detail that underscores the gravity of his offenses.
The court was informed that Arnold had also pleaded guilty to possessing an additional 595 prohibited images of a child, a charge brought against him in January of the previous year.
During the hearing, Recorder John Williams acknowledged the seriousness of Arnold’s actions and warned him of the potential consequences.
He stated that Arnold was facing a substantial prison sentence, but also indicated that there might be alternative sentencing options available, depending on the outcome of further assessments.
As part of the proceedings, the judge adjourned the case to allow a probation officer to prepare a comprehensive report on Arnold’s background and circumstances.
This report will help inform the final sentencing decision.
Arnold was released on conditional bail, with strict conditions that prohibit him from having any unsupervised contact with individuals under the age of 18.
He is scheduled to return to court on May 20 for sentencing, where the full extent of his punishment will be determined.
The case has raised concerns among residents of Tavistock about the impact of such offenses on the community and the importance of safeguarding children from exploitation and abuse.
