KIERAN ROUTH BACKYARD BREEDER FROM BRADFORD MOOR CONVICTED OF ANIMAL CRUELTY
Kieran Routh, a resident of Bradford Moor, has been found guilty of serious animal cruelty charges involving an Akita dog. Born on January 11, 1991, Routh, who resides on Radnor Street in Bradford with the postcode BD3 8EA, was convicted in 2021 for neglecting the health and well-being of his pet.Routh, who also operates as a backyard breeder, failed to provide basic veterinary care for the dog, neglecting to treat her leg sores and maintain her grooming. The condition of the dog’s legs was reportedly neglected for some time, leading to suffering and discomfort. Despite the dog's evident health issues, Routh did not take the necessary steps to ensure her recovery or comfort.
In addition to neglecting her medical needs, Routh did not provide a safe or suitable living environment for the animal. The dog was kept in conditions that did not meet basic welfare standards, further exacerbating her suffering. The failure to seek veterinary treatment and maintain proper hygiene for the dog was a key factor in the conviction.
Following the trial, Routh was ordered to pay a fine of £1,000 and was also subjected to a five-year ban on owning or keeping animals. This penalty was part of the court’s efforts to prevent further cruelty and ensure the welfare of animals in the future. Additionally, a community order was imposed, requiring Routh to undertake certain rehabilitative activities or community service.
Although Routh pleaded not guilty to the charges, the court found him guilty after a thorough trial. The case highlights ongoing concerns about backyard breeding practices and animal neglect within the Bradford Moor area, emphasizing the importance of animal welfare laws and enforcement.
