OXFORD MAN SENTENCED TO 12 YEARS FOR RAPE AND SEXUAL ASSAULT
A man has received a 12-year prison sentence after being convicted of multiple sexual offences in Oxford.Kiefer Ewers, 26, who lives on Shipton Road in Woodstock, was found guilty of serious crimes including two counts of rape, two counts of voyeurism, one assault by penetration, and one incident of causing actual bodily harm.
The decision was made by a jury through a majority verdict on January 18 during a trial held at Oxford Crown Court.
In addition to his prison term, Ewers was issued a sexual harm prevention order and will be registered as a sex offender for life.
Court proceedings revealed that Ewers assaulted the victim in May 2019, physically attacking her with punches, head butts, bites, and strangulation, which left bruises and bite marks.
He also recorded these assaults on his mobile device, saving videos and images in a PIN-locked app.
The police investigation uncovered these details, leading to his charges in January of the previous year.
Detective Constable Martin Whaley commented on the sentence, stressing that it reflects the gravity of his crimes and encouraging others who have been affected to report incidents.
This case underscores the importance of police support for victims of sexual offences.
