KHURRAM REHMAN FROM PLAISTOW SENTENCED TO 21 YEARS FOR BRUTAL RAPE IN STRATFORD
In a harrowing case that shocked the local community, Khurram Rehman, a 29-year-old man residing on Richmond Street in Plaistow, was sentenced to a lengthy prison term of 21 years for a violent and predatory assault that took place in Stratford.The incident occurred on the evening of July 3 last year, when Rehman targeted a 16-year-old girl walking along East Road.
According to court reports, Rehman initially approached the teenager in a seemingly friendly manner, which may have lulled her into a false sense of security.
However, his demeanor quickly changed as he suddenly grabbed her wrists and demanded she get into his vehicle.
He issued a threatening warning, telling her he would stab her if she made any noise or attempted to resist.
Despite her efforts to escape, Rehman persisted in his threats and forcibly pulled her into the back of his car.
Rehman then drove to a secluded car park located off Elmgreen Close, where he subjected the girl to a prolonged and serious sexual assault.
The victim pleaded with him to stop, expressing her distress and fear, but Rehman refused to heed her pleas.
He continued his assault and once again threatened her with a stabbing if she did not comply.
After the assault, he demanded her phone number and warned her not to disclose what had transpired.
As he drove away, he threw a £10 note at her and expelled her from the vehicle.
Following the traumatic ordeal, the teenager immediately contacted the police.
During her interview with detectives, she was visibly distressed but courageous in providing details of the attack.
Rehman, meanwhile, made several attempts to contact her in an apparent effort to intimidate her and prevent her from reporting the crime.
His efforts to threaten and silence the victim did not succeed, as forensic evidence linked him to the crime scene and the assault.
Rehman was arrested four days after the incident, and his arrest was facilitated by forensic investigations that confirmed his involvement.
He was brought before Snaresbrook Crown Court, where he faced a six-day trial in December.
The court found him guilty of kidnapping and three counts of rape, leading to his conviction.
Today, the same court sentenced him to a total of 21 years in prison, marking a significant victory for justice and a warning to those who commit such heinous acts in the Stratford and Plaistow areas.
