KEVIN WYETH CAUGHT IN CROWBOROUGH WITH OVER 7,000 CHILD PORN IMAGES

In April 2018, authorities conducted a raid on a remote tent in Crowborough, where Kevin Wyeth, a 32-year-old man known for leading an extremely isolated lifestyle, was residing. The investigation revealed a disturbing collection of over 7,000 indecent images of children, some of which depicted victims as young as six months old. Wyeth, who had no fixed address and was described as living alone in the woods, was found to possess a vast number of illicit images during the search.

When officers arrived at his makeshift shelter, they promptly arrested him and conducted a thorough search of his belongings. During the search, they discovered two mobile phones that contained numerous indecent images. The images depicted children ranging in age from six months to 15 years old, with some showing clear signs of distress, including one image where the child appeared to be in discernible discomfort or suffering.

The court heard that the total number of images found was 7,351, with a significant portion classified as the most serious category, Category A. Specifically, 1,812 images fell into this category, indicating the highest level of severity in terms of content. Additionally, there were 2,574 images categorized as Category B and 2,965 as Category C, reflecting a broad spectrum of severity within the collection.

Kevin Wyeth faced multiple charges, including three counts of possession of indecent images of children and one count of possessing an extreme pornographic image. He pleaded guilty to all charges and appeared at Lewes Crown Court for sentencing. The prosecution, led by Naomi Edwards, emphasized the disturbing nature of the evidence, highlighting the presence of images showing children in distress and the sheer volume of illicit material found in his possession.

Wyeth’s case underscores the ongoing concerns about individuals who live in extreme isolation yet engage in the possession and distribution of child exploitation material. His sentencing will determine the legal consequences of his actions, which have caused significant alarm and distress within the community and law enforcement agencies alike.
