KEVIN SIMM FROM KNUTTON SENTENCED FOR SEX OFFENCES AGAINST 15-YEAR-OLD GIRL IN NORTH STAFFORDSHIRE
In a case that has shocked the local community of Knutton and the wider North Staffordshire area, Kevin Simm, aged 36, has been sentenced to a significant prison term following his conviction on multiple charges related to sexual misconduct involving a teenage girl. The court proceedings, held at Stafford Crown Court, revealed disturbing details about Simm's interactions with the young girl, who was approximately 15 years old at the time of the incidents.According to court records, Simm, residing on St Bernard's Road in Knutton, engaged in a series of inappropriate encounters with the girl over a period of time. The court heard that Simm had met the girl on several occasions, during which he provided her with alcohol, an act that raised serious concerns about his intentions and the vulnerability of the young victim. It was also established that Simm kissed the girl during these meetings, further compounding the severity of his misconduct.
The prosecution detailed that Simm maintained contact with the girl through various means, including social media, and arranged to meet her at a scenic location in North Staffordshire. The culmination of these encounters was a final meeting during which Simm engaged in sexual activity with the girl. The court was informed that prior to their last meeting, Simm had asked her whether she was on the contraceptive pill, a question that underscored the predatory nature of his actions.
Kevin Simm was ultimately convicted of four counts of sexual activity with a child under the age of 16. He admitted to having intercourse with the girl but was found not guilty of two additional similar charges following a trial in September. The judge, Paul Glenn, addressed Simm directly during sentencing, emphasizing the age disparity and the manipulative behavior involved. Judge Glenn stated, “You were between nine or ten years older than the girl. On one occasion, you were alone with her, gave her alcohol, and kissed her. You then asked her if she was on the contraceptive pill. You later met the girl a final time and had sex.”
Further complicating the case, the court heard that several years after the incidents, Simm attempted to contact his victim through social media messages. When questioned about these messages, Simm claimed not to remember sending them and alleged that the girl had drugged him. However, the victim testified that she was not vindictive and was honest in her account of the events.
As part of his sentence, Simm has been sentenced to seven years in prison. Additionally, he has been prohibited from working with children and vulnerable adults in the future, reflecting the court’s concern for public safety and the protection of minors from potential harm.
