Chell Heath Rapist
In March 2013, Kevin Price, a 55-year-old man from Chell Heath, was sentenced to ten years in prison after admitting to multiple heinous sexual offenses involving two young women. The court proceedings revealed the disturbing details of his crimes, which left lasting psychological scars on his victims.

According to the evidence presented at Stoke-on-Trent Crown Court, Price targeted a teenage girl who was approximately 15 or 16 years old at the time. Prosecutor Steven Redmond described how Price took the girl to a local lake, where he forced her to lie on his coat on a grass embankment before committing the sexual assault. The court also heard that Price repeatedly took the same victim to his allotment, where he raped her on multiple occasions. These acts were carried out with a disturbing pattern of control and intimidation, with Price warning the girl not to disclose what had happened.

The second victim was subjected to two separate assaults by Price. During the first incident, he took her virginity, and after a subsequent rape, he explicitly told her that she was never to tell anyone about what had transpired. These repeated violations inflicted profound trauma on the victims, both of whom suffered significant psychological effects as a result.

Price pleaded guilty to six charges of rape, a decision that spared the victims the ordeal of giving evidence in court. His defense lawyer, Peter McCartney, emphasized that Price had no previous convictions and expressed remorse for his actions. McCartney highlighted that Price was ashamed of what he had done and acknowledged the long-lasting impact on the victims. He also noted that Price was willing to participate in sex offender rehabilitation programs while incarcerated.

During the sentencing, Recorder Rachel Brand QC described the victim impact statements as 'chilling' and acknowledged the severe psychological harm inflicted. Both victims reportedly suffer from panic attacks and flashbacks, illustrating the deep emotional scars left by Price’s crimes. The judge remarked that the guilty plea had at least spared the victims from the additional trauma of testifying in court.

As part of his sentence, Price will serve half of the ten-year term in prison, with the remaining time on license. Additionally, he will be required to register as a sex offender for the rest of his life. A spokesperson from Staffordshire Police expressed their support for the sentence, reaffirming their commitment to taking all reports of sexual offenses seriously and supporting victims through the legal process. The police also encouraged anyone who has been a victim of similar crimes to come forward and report it, emphasizing their dedication to justice and victim support.
