Peterborough Sexual Abuser
Kevin Calderbank, aged 66, was found guilty and received a 22-year prison sentence for sexually abusing two girls in Peterborough over three decades ago. His offenses took place between 1985 and 1989 but only surfaced in 2020 when the victims reported the abuse to authorities. At Cambridge Crown Court, Calderbank admitted to seven counts of indecent assault involving a girl under 14. Detective Constable Katie Ilett commented that his reprehensible actions inflicted suffering that no child should have to bear, and she commended the victims for their bravery in coming forward. Additionally, Calderbank was issued a sexual harm prevention order and has been registered on the sex offenders register permanently. Police recognized that Calderbank exploited vulnerable children for sexual abuse and praised the victims' courage, expressing hope that the punishment would provide some measure of closure for them.
