SERIOUS DOMESTIC ABUSER JAILED FOR VIOLENT CRIMES IN ABERDEEN
Kevin Anderson, aged 26, has been sentenced to three years and nine months in prison after a series of severe domestic abuse crimes. The court heard that Anderson was a serial abuser who inflicted violent and controlling behavior on two former girlfriends over a period of five years.
Among his crimes, he pushed his pregnant partner down the stairs at their home, resulting in a miscarriage, and later refused her hospital treatment out of fear she would disclose the abuse.
Furthermore, he tipped ashtray contents over her head, spat on her, and threatened her life, especially during her hospital visits for the miscarriage.
Anderson’s violence extended to physically assaulting another woman by stabbing her with scissors, leaving her with puncture wounds and a ring imprint from his punch.
During the attack, he exclaimed, “I’ve just stabbed her,” and expressed remorse by saying, “I don’t know what to do.
I’m going to jail.” The court detailed how Anderson forced his then-girlfriend to dig a grave for their miscarried baby with her bare hands after forgetting a shovel and engaging in an argument.
The abuse methods also included locking his partner in his flat without food or a phone, telling her he wanted to 'keep her safe,' and threatening suicide to manipulate her.
This pattern of violent and controlling behavior led to Anderson being branded “a serious risk to any woman,” and a sheriff described his conduct as “absolutely appalling.” The judge sentenced Anderson to nearly four years in prison, backdated to his remand in August 2021, and imposed indefinite non-harassment orders to protect the victims, emphasizing that Anderson posed “a significant risk of causing severe harm to members of the public.” Police praised the bravery of the victims and welcomed the sentence, affirming their commitment to tackling domestic abuse.
Anderson is currently held at HMP Grampian.
