Jedburgh Domestic Abuser
A 26-year-old man from Jedburgh has been sentenced to complete 225 hours of unpaid work after admitting to abusive behavior towards his partner during July and August 2021.

Kerr Halliday, whose address is in Jedburgh, pleaded guilty to engaging in a course of conduct that was abusive towards the woman. As part of his sentence, he is required to attend the Caledonian Men’s Programme and undertake any alcohol awareness courses deemed appropriate by his supervising officer.

At Selkirk Sheriff Court, Halliday was also issued a two-year Non-Harassment Order, which prohibits him from making contact with his former partner.

Sheriff Mungo Bovey expressed concerns about Halliday’s behavior, noting he was a risk to women when he consumes alcohol. The sheriff considered banning Halliday from drinking altogether but ultimately ordered him to complete his unpaid work within one year and placed him on supervision for two years as part of a Community Pay Back Order.
