KELLY MAHON ARRESTED IN ARLESTON FOR KIDNAPPING BABY FROM TELFORD HOME

In a disturbing incident that shook the community of Arleston and the nearby town of Telford, Kelly Mahon, aged 41, was sentenced to two years in prison after pleading guilty to the kidnapping of a nine-week-old infant. The crime took place on February 24, when Mahon approached a family’s residence on Manor Road, a street just a short distance from her own home.

According to reports, Mahon knocked on the front door of the family’s house. When the mother of the infant answered, Mahon falsely claimed that her husband and other children had been involved in a car accident a few streets away. She then offered to look after the baby, suggesting that the mother should leave to assist her family in the aftermath of the supposed crash. Trusting Mahon, the mother left her child in her care and went to check on her family.

However, upon returning to the residence after discovering there had been no accident and that her family was safe, the mother was shocked to find that both Mahon and her baby had vanished. The disappearance prompted an extensive police investigation, with authorities mobilizing significant resources to locate the missing child and identify the kidnapper.

Later that same day, police officers located the baby at Mahon’s home. The infant was found peacefully sleeping and appeared to be unharmed. The child was immediately taken to a hospital for a thorough medical examination before being reunited with his relieved parents. The parents, who have chosen to remain anonymous, expressed their anguish and gratitude in a statement. They described the hours of terror they endured, unable to comprehend how their newborn could have been taken and left in a strange place with someone they did not know.

Detective Chief Inspector Neil Jamieson of the West Mercia Major Investigation Unit praised the swift response of law enforcement and the resilience of the family. He emphasized the rarity of such crimes and highlighted the robust systems in place to respond effectively. “We are so pleased that today we have seen justice done for them,” he stated. Jamieson also commended the public’s cooperation, which played a crucial role in the rapid recovery of the baby.

At a court hearing held on March 29 at Shrewsbury Crown Court, Mahon admitted to the charges and was subsequently sentenced to two years in prison. Her guilty plea marked the culmination of a thorough investigation that underscored the seriousness of the offense.

In a statement, the senior investigating officer expressed his appreciation for the family’s strength and bravery throughout the ordeal. He acknowledged the emotional toll on the parents and reaffirmed the police’s commitment to protecting the community from such rare but distressing crimes. The parents conveyed their heartfelt thanks to the police and the public for their support, sharing how overwhelmed they felt during the hours their child was missing. They expressed deep gratitude for the efforts that led to their son’s safe return and thanked everyone who shared information and helped in the investigation. Their words reflected the relief and hope that justice has been served in this troubling case.
