Aberdeen Rapist
A man identified as Keith McBain, aged 31, has been handed a substantial prison sentence of 14 years after being convicted of multiple serious charges related to sexual violence and assault in Aberdeen. The court proceedings revealed a disturbing pattern of behavior involving six separate charges, including rape, indecent assault, and assault causing injury. Despite his consistent refusal to admit guilt, all three of McBain’s victims were compelled to testify against him, shedding light on the extent of his violent and abusive conduct.

One of the victims, a woman aged 38, provided a harrowing account of how McBain’s aggression persisted even during one of the most vulnerable moments of her life—while she was in labor with their child. She described how his temper flared because she was in labor and wanted to rest after a night of drinking. She recounted, “He was really angry and quite aggressive because I was in labour and he wanted to go to his bed because he’d been out drinking the night before.” Her testimony included a distressing incident where, while waiting to enter the labor ward, McBain threw a 500ml bottle of Irn Bru at her head and headbutted her, causing her emotional distress during an already difficult time.

Evidence presented in court included graphic images and messages that illustrated the extent of McBain’s abusive behavior. WhatsApp and Snapchat messages contained threats and derogatory language, such as “U fat c***…Hope u get aids. ill.smash ur f****** face u fat f***. Ur a fat slut…hae a misscarrage u cow,” highlighting the violent and threatening nature of his conduct.

Further disturbing details emerged regarding McBain’s control and coercion over his partner. She described how he forced her to participate in sexual acts she found perverse, including the use of latex gimp masks. She recounted that he would buy these masks and make them all wear them, even when she protested. She also revealed that he would threaten her with violence, saying, “do you want me to beat you or rape you? You decide,” if she refused to comply with his demands.

The court also heard from another woman, who had met McBain when she was just 16 years old. She described his controlling and abusive behavior, stating that she felt like a “wreck” after giving her testimony. She referred to his actions as his “last abusive act,” emphasizing the pattern of violence and control that characterized their relationship.

Both women expressed a sense of relief now that McBain is behind bars, knowing he will be subject to a court-imposed non-harassment order upon his release. Despite his incarceration, the emotional scars inflicted by his actions continue to affect them, as they work to rebuild their lives and recover from the trauma. The case underscores the severity of McBain’s crimes, the court’s decisive sentencing, and the ongoing psychological impact on his victims, highlighting the importance of justice for those affected by such heinous acts in Aberdeen.
