KEITH FREEMAN SENTENCED IN NEWHAVEN FOR SEX OFFENCES INVOLVING YOUNG BOYS IN BRIGHTON AND ROTTINGDEAN
In a significant case that has shocked the local community, Keith Freeman, a 68-year-old resident of Newhaven, has been handed down a lengthy prison sentence after being convicted of multiple serious sexual offences involving two young boys.The crimes took place at Freeman's former residence on Norfolk Road in Brighton, a location that has now become central to this disturbing case.
Freeman appeared before Lewes Crown Court on Wednesday, March 7, where he was sentenced to 13 years behind bars.
The sentencing followed a trial in which Freeman was found guilty of seven criminal charges related to sexual misconduct, with three additional charges he admitted to.
The court heard that Freeman committed a total of nine offences, including serious sexual assault, attempted acts of gross indecency, and indecent assault, spanning over a period of several years.
The first victim, a young boy under the age of 16, was subjected to a series of heinous acts over approximately four years.
Police reports indicate that Freeman met the boy in Brighton town centre, where the vulnerable child was alone.
Freeman then invited the boy back to his flat nearby, initiating a pattern of sexual abuse that persisted until the boy, feeling increasingly brave and perhaps seeking help, finally decided to end the relationship.
The second victim was a teenage boy who encountered Freeman while he was hitchhiking in the area.
Freeman offered the young boy a lift, and during the journey, he made inappropriate advances.
These advances eventually led to Freeman engaging the boy in sexual activity, police confirmed.
The offences against this second boy spanned about two years, further highlighting Freeman’s predatory behavior.
As a result of his convictions, Keith Freeman will be required to register as a sex offender for the rest of his life.
The case has raised concerns within the community of Newhaven and Brighton, emphasizing the importance of vigilance and safeguarding vulnerable individuals from exploitation and abuse.
