KARL FOXHALL SHOCKS NORTH NEWBALD WITH SEXUAL ASSAULT ON BOY

In a case that has sent shockwaves through the quiet village of North Newbald, Karl Lennon Foxhall, a resident of the area, was convicted of a series of serious sexual offenses involving a young boy under the age of 10. The incident, which took place on the evening of Saturday, September 27, last year, has left the local community reeling with disbelief and concern.

According to court proceedings at Hull Crown Court, Foxhall, aged 21 at the time, targeted the son of friends who had invited him into their home. It was during this visit that he committed the heinous acts, which included sexual assault, possession of indecent images, and other related offenses. Foxhall has since been sentenced to a prison term of over six years, specifically six years and eight months, and will be subject to an extended period on license lasting two years.

Foxhall's criminal record also includes possession of 72 indecent images, causing a child to watch a sex act, and engaging in sexual activity in the presence of a minor. He pleaded guilty to all charges, which further complicates the community's response to his actions. As part of his sentence, he will remain on the Sex Offenders Register for life and is prohibited from having contact with children for a period of ten years.

During the sentencing, Recorder Rodney Jameson QC highlighted the disturbing nature of Foxhall’s conduct. He noted that Foxhall exploited the situation by showing the young victim indecent photographs, which was followed by a series of sexual assaults. The judge acknowledged Foxhall’s youth and immaturity, suggesting that some of his actions could be viewed as juvenile experimentation. However, he emphasized that such explanations offered little comfort to the victim and his family, who rightly felt betrayed and devastated.

Judge Jameson also pointed out that Foxhall displayed an 'unnatural interest' in children and had breached the trust placed in him by the victim’s parents. The court recognized the profound and potentially long-lasting impact of the offenses on the young boy, who was very vulnerable at the time. The judge took into account Foxhall’s early guilty plea, which indicated remorse and shame, but stressed that the harm caused was significant and unacceptable.

Locals who knew Foxhall expressed their shock and disbelief. Dee Anderson, the licensee of The Tiger Inn, a pub located across from North Newbald’s Gnu pub where Foxhall previously worked as a chef, described him as a quiet and unassuming individual. Anderson said, “Everyone is very shocked, you just don’t expect it. You can’t believe it when something like that happens. He came into the pub occasionally. He was very quiet, he hardly spoke. It’s a complete shock really.”

Another resident, who preferred to remain anonymous, shared their feelings of betrayal, stating, “He’s lived here a lot of years and all the people that I know are so shocked about it. I have seen him grow up from being a bairn and you won’t get anyone more shocked than me. He was a real quiet lad. Of all the people in the world, I never thought Karl was like that.”

The case has left the North Newbald community grappling with the unsettling reality of someone they once knew being capable of such disturbing acts. The court’s decision underscores the severity of the crimes committed and the importance of justice for the victim and his family.
