ADDLESTONE MAN SENTENCED TO 15 YEARS FOR BRUTAL RAPE AND ASSAULT
A vile rapist who snatched an 18-year-old woman from a railway station before dragging her off to a remote wooded area where he repeatedly assaulted has been jailed for 15 years.Kapil Dogra, 38, of High Street in Addlestone, was sentenced at Reading Crown Court after being found guilty in October of multiple attacks on the teenager.
Dogra was convicted on one count of rape, two of assault by penetration, and a further count of causing a female to engage in sexual activity without consent.
He has been placed on the Sex Offenders’ Register indefinitely.
Police have praised the bravery of the 18-year-old victim for coming forward and testifying against Dogra at his trial.
The court heard how the incident occurred around 10.20 pm on April 12, when Dogra approached the victim in London Road, Datchet, after she left Datchet railway station.
He grabbed her and took her to a wooded area where he raped and sexually assaulted her.
Following an investigation by Thames Valley Police, Dogra was arrested less than a week later on April 18 and charged the next day.
Detective Constable Sara Harrison expressed her satisfaction with the conviction, stating, “I am pleased Dogra has been convicted of the terrible offences he committed against his victim.
The victim has been extremely brave in standing up to her attacker and giving evidence in court.
I hope that Dogra’s conviction will help her to move on from the terrible ordeal she has endured.
Thames Valley Police is committed to protecting the public from such dreadful, violent, and predatory acts.”
