DOGS SUFFER HORRIFIC NEGLECT IN SQUALID FLAT AS OWNER JAILED FOR ABUSE
A man has been jailed for six months after abandoning two starving dogs in a filthy flat in Aberdeen.Animal welfare officers from the Scottish SPCA were called to Cameron's home in May last year.
They found six-year-old American bulldog Diesel and a nine-month-old Bull type puppy Gucci living in squalid conditions.
The call was made after owner Kalith Cameron had been detained.
Cameron was sentenced to six months in prison and disqualified from owning, holding, or caring for any animal for three years.
He failed to provide veterinary treatment for an infected ear, resulting in an open wound, and left Diesel in poor body condition due to inadequate nutrition.
Both dogs were confined to a flat without enough space, with nails overgrown and floors soiled with faeces and urine over two weeks.
Diesel was initially released to a co-owner with the condition of urgent vet treatment.
Diesel has since recovered following veterinary care and both dogs have been rehomed.
The Scottish SPCA hopes that the court's decision highlights the risks of neglecting animal welfare and advocates for a national animal offenders register.
