BIRMINGHAM MAN JAILED FOR 14 YEARS OVER VIOLENT RAPE IN RUGBY
Rapist Kai Sowe was sentenced to 14 years in prison following a brutal attack in Rugby.The incident involved Sowe sharing a taxi with a woman after a night out, during which he followed and then attacked and raped her from behind.
A passing van driver, Patrick Mitchell, intervened after noticing suspicious behavior and witnessing the assault, which ultimately led to Sowe fleeing the scene.
DNA evidence from an internal hospital swab confirmed his involvement, despite Sowe denying the assault.
The victim described her experience in an impact statement, saying she thought he was going to kill her and that she would never see her family again.
At Warwick Crown Court, Judge Peter Cooke highlighted the violence and aggravating circumstances of the attack, condemning Sowe's actions and sentencing him to 14 years in prison.
Sowe was also ordered to register as a sex offender for life.
The court praised Mr.
Mitchell for his heroic intervention and recommended that he receive a £1,000 award.
