Nottinghamshire Rapist
A man accused of sexually assaulting a vulnerable teenage victim in Nottinghamshire has been sentenced to 10 years in prison. Justin Burton, aged 48 and of no fixed address, was found guilty of two counts of rape and two counts of sexual assault after a trial. The offences took place in June, and Burton was arrested the following day after the victim came forward. During the sentencing at Nottingham Crown Court, Burton received a ten-year jail term, a restraining order, and was ordered to be placed on the sex offenders register. Initially denying the charges, Burton was convicted on December 11. Det Con Harry Cooper commented: "The victim has shown incredible strength since their ordeal and played a central role in helping put Burton in prison for his despicable crimes. While I know nothing will ever make up for what happened, I sincerely hope that the fact Burton will now spend a lengthy period behind bars will provide both them and their family with some small degree of comfort." The police confirmed that Burton’s crime involved abusing a vulnerable teenager and that he was convicted of multiple sexual offences.
