Bretton Child Sexual Abuser
In a recent development that has shocked the local community, Justin Barrs, a 25-year-old sex offender from Bretton, has been recalled to prison just a few weeks after his initial release. Barrs, who has a history of sexual offenses involving minors, was convicted of making indecent images of children on two separate occasions, once five years ago and again in 2020.

Following his latest conviction, Barrs was classified as a registered sex offender and was subject to strict conditions upon his release from prison on January 26 of this year. One of these conditions mandated that he present his mobile phone to the authorities at Thorpe Wood Police Station in Peterborough, which he did the day after relocating to the county from Suffolk on April 4.

However, law enforcement officials uncovered troubling evidence during their investigation. They found that Barrs had created three different usernames on various online chat platforms, likely to facilitate communication with minors or to evade detection. Additionally, officers discovered that he had deliberately deleted the social media application Snapchat, which he had previously been using, possibly to hide his online activities.

During questioning, Barrs admitted to being part of an online group that included individuals aged between 13 and 19 years old. In a moment of apparent remorse or self-awareness, he described his actions as ā€œI’m an idiot.ā€

The police charged Barrs with three counts of failing to comply with the notification requirements set out in the Sex Offenders Register, as well as breaching a Sexual Harm Prevention Order (SHPO) that had been imposed on him. These breaches prompted immediate action from the authorities.

At Peterborough Crown Court, Barrs pleaded guilty to all charges. The court sentenced him to a term of three years and four months in prison, reflecting the seriousness of his violations and the ongoing concern about his compliance with legal restrictions. His return to incarceration underscores the importance of monitoring and enforcing the conditions placed on sex offenders to protect the community from potential harm.
