ABUSIVE MOTHER CAUGHT AFTER LEAVING BABY WITH 30 INJURIES IN PRAM OUTSIDE ASDA
Julija Priadina, aged 32, was responsible for leaving her three-month-old child with over thirty injuries covering her body, including a severe head injury. The infant’s life was ultimately saved when a supermarket employee observed Priadina abandon her outside while she was drinking wine and wandering around an Asda store located in Great Barr, Birmingham.
The employee promptly contacted the police on April 25, 2020, leading to the child receiving medical treatment.
At Birmingham Crown Court, it was revealed that Priadina had experienced a severe mental health breakdown related to alcohol abuse, which affected her entire apartment block.
Priadina was living with the baby’s father, Shoja-ul-din Omrany, who was cleared of child cruelty charges.
She was alone in her flat when she inflicted the injuries, which experts determined resulted from both shaking and blunt force trauma.
A blood test taken at her arrest showed she had consumed enough alcohol to be approximately three and a half times over the legal limit for driving.
Following Mr.
Omrany’s acquittal, Priadina was sentenced for her actions.
Judge Roderick Henderson stated: ‘This was arguably a life-threatening injury and the truth of this is this was a disastrous period of a few days where an otherwise good mother lost complete control because you had a very serious drink problem at the time.’ Priadina, who resides in Ladywood, pleaded guilty to charges of child cruelty and intent to cause grievous bodily harm.
She was sentenced to three years’ imprisonment.
