WOMAN WHO BLEW UP BEDROOM KILLING PARTNER TOLD: 'YOU ARE EXCEPTIONALLY DANGEROUS AND COULD KILL AGAIN'
A delusional woman who believed she was being poisoned by her partner has been branded 'exceptionally dangerous' and committed to a hospital order after she caused an explosion that killed her partner, Keith Robinson. The court heard that Addinall thought Mr.
Robinson and his family were poisoning her with mercury and that she was dying as a result.
During a court appearance, the judge stated that she was an 'immense danger' to her own family and unable to be safely released, warning that she could very well kill another member of her family or the public.
Addinall, 55, from Purbeck Road, Scartho, had a turbulent relationship with Mr.
Robinson, who was 59 at the time.
She had a long-standing mental health history, including multiple hospital admissions under the Mental Health Act, with her most recent admission just before the incident.
She had been suffering from a persistent delusional disorder, harboring beliefs of conspiracy to poison her and believing she was dying.
Her delusions led her to pour petrol around their bedroom, ignite it, and jump out of a window to escape the ensuing fire, which tragically resulted in Mr.
Robinson's death due to severe burns and inhalation of toxic gases.
Addinall was found the next day, initially giving a false name, and told police she was poisoning and dying from mercury poisoning.
Her defense highlighted she was 'not a bad woman' and lacked previous convictions.
She was given a hospital order and restriction order, with her release contingent upon approval by the Secretary of State.
Police refused to release a picture of her due to her vulnerabilities and duty of care.
