SON OF NOTORIOUS RAPIST GUILTY OF STALKING AND RESTRAINING ORDER BREACH
Julian Lambe, a 46-year-old man from Ringwood and son of the notorious M5 rapist John Lambe, became infatuated with a supermarket checkout girl after a brief exchange at Morrison's.He misinterpreted their interaction as flirtation and subsequently bombarded her with Facebook messages, despite being under an indefinite restraining order issued in August 2018 for stalking.
In November of the following year, he attempted to tag himself in a photograph on her Facebook profile, mistakenly believing his restraining order had expired.
He claimed he was unaware that the order was still in effect and said he thought it lasted only 12 months.
The victim received a notification from Facebook about a user named 'Jay Light' attempting to tag himself, which she recognized as Lambe.
The prosecution noted that Lambe had changed his name online and had been contacting her with messages claiming she was beautiful and that he had fallen in love with her.
He also left a Valentine's card on her car.
Despite her repeated requests for him to stop, Lambe made 20 further attempts to contact her via Facebook and Instagram.
At the time of the breach, he was prohibited from any contact or monitoring her online activity.
Lambe pleaded guilty to breaching the restraining order and was sentenced to a 12-month community order with 60 hours of unpaid work and a £90 victim surcharge.
The judge, Recorder Nicholas Haggan, stated that the victim was scared and believed this was the start of more contact, noting Lambe's efforts to comply with the order up to that point and his attempts to distance himself from his past.
Lambe explained that he checked Facebook to see if the woman still worked at Morrison's and claimed he had no idea how he tagged himself in her photo.
His defense highlighted his trauma from childhood, being the son of a convicted rapist, and his efforts to rebuild his life, including changing his name to avoid negative publicity.
The court accepted his guilty plea and issued a sentence intended to prevent further harassment.
