SEX PREDATOR GROOMED YOUNG BOYS WITH GIFTS THEN TOOK 'ALL THE COLOUR AND JOY' FROM THEIR LIVES
A sexual predator groomed three young boys and bought them gifts before abusing them, a court has heard.A judge said it was clear that Joshua Jones had a sexual interest in pre-pubescent boys and that he was a dangerous offender who needed to be subject to an extended sentence to protect the public.
Court proceedings at Swansea Crown Court revealed that Jones, aged 32, of Heol Cwm Mawr, had previously been convicted at trial of seven counts of sexual assault of a boy, inciting a boy to engage in sexual activity, and oral rape of a boy when he returned to the dock for sentencing.
The offending took place in the Port Talbot area prior to 2020 and involved three victims, the youngest being just five.
Support for victims details are provided, highlighting the devastating impact of his abuse, which caused one boy to stop laughing and lose all the joy in his life, and another to shut down emotionally.
The mother of the third victim described her son transforming from an outgoing, trusting boy to someone who now trusts no one and questions everyone.
The judge emphasized that Jones had exhibited predatory and grooming behaviour, including giving gifts and vapes, and considered him a dangerous offender.
He was sentenced to a 23-year extended sentence of 19 years imprisonment plus a four-year license period.
He must serve two-thirds of this in custody before being eligible for parole.
Jones will be a registered sex offender for life and under an indefinite sexual harm prevention order.
